A CIVIL protection volunteer has been arrested in Ciudad Real accused of setting stubble on fire so he could then extinguish it himself.Authorities have alleged that the man would drive his private vehicle towards the outskirts of Daimiel (Ciudad Real), where he would set on fire the stubble left by agriculture machines and then go back to the town hall, after reporting the fire to authorities. Then, police said, he would take the Civil Protection official vehicle, as he was a member of the team, and attend the scene to put out the fire together with the fire brigade. The Guardia Civil has arrested this 42-year-old man, resident of Daimiel, for at least six arson attacks on July 2 and 3. He was taken into custody and then set free until the day of the trial.
