MALAGA’S presence in the UK press will be increased over the next few months following a series of promotional tours for reporters run by the city’s Tourism and Promotion Department.
Articles are due to be run in The Guardian and The Times in August, The Sun in late October and Red Magazine in early November to coincide with London’s World Travel Market.
The trips for UK journalists were organised by the council to include as many of the city’s new tourist attractions as possible and featured visits to the Russian Art Museum, the Automobile Museum, Picasso’s birthplace, La Concepcion botanical-historical gardens, the Malaga Pompidou Centre, the Picasso Museum and the Contemporary Art Centre, monuments and of course also left space for gastronomy.
National Statistics Institute (INE) data for 2014 revealed that 78,407 tourists from the UK stayed at hotels in the city during the year, and between January and May this year 30,734 were registered.
