TWO people are currently being investigated by Guardia Civil in connection with the Gualchos and Lujar (Costa Tropical) fire which started last week. The fire burnt at least 2,000 hectares and lasted six days, being finally extinguished last Tuesday (June 14).The two people being investigated are the managers of the electricity line company and the company in charge for the power line’s maintenance on the Costa Tropical. All evidence indicates that the fire was started due to a spark from a power line cable setting fire to a tree or bush.More than 600 people had to be evacuated from their homes due to the fire.
