AN outstanding debt of around €1 million owed to a waste treatment company means that the city council will have to divert funds from other areas to service the debt.FCC, which is a consortium that manages and treats the waste from the Benidorm area, is owed the money for the year 2011/2012. The debt was not dealt with during the period it covers as it was thought unreasonable to request more money from citizens during the election period.FCC stated that a request for interim payments had not been responded to and that any further delay will result in an increase in default interest payments.
