Meeting the team at Currencies Direct

PASSION FOR WORK: Business Development Executive Paul Harrison.

MONEY makes the world go around and taking care of your money is an area that requires specialist advice: the best advice on the Costa Blanca can be found at Currencies Direct.
Paul Harrison, Business Development Executive, found time in his busy diary to speak to the Euro Weekly News (EWN) about providing the best financial advice and combining a hectic work schedule with family life.
Paul has lived on the Costa Blanca for 19 years, although when he came over initially he planned to stay for a year. The Spanish lifestyle, especially the weather, meant that he never left. He now has a family and has no intention of leaving. Paul and his wife Yolanda, who have been married for six years, have a three-year-old daughter, Elena, and as Paul said: “The benefits of living in Spain are too numerous to mention. My wife and I believe that our daughter has the perfect environment to grow up in and when you combine that with the glorious weather and the friendliness of the people we feel that we have found our own piece of heaven.”
Away from work Paul enjoys tennis, golf and pool, but for Paul work is a passion. He and his colleague, Mark Pegrum, Business Development Executive, are often out of the office but not for long lunches and siestas. Paul explained: “A lot of our clients are in and around the Benidorm area and we offer a home service so that they do not have to travel. They can benefit from the Currencies Direct service without leaving their home.”
EWN asked Paul what motivates him, and his eyes sparkled: “I am a family man and they are everything to me. I also believe that our clients deserve the best financial advice possible and at Currencies Direct we aim to offer that. Our philosophy is to treat our clients as individuals, everyone has different needs. We strive to give them personal attention and to show them the face behind the company. With our team we have the best possible people working for our clients’ best interests.”
The Currencies Direct team is a highly motivated, friendly group headed by Andrew Brown, focused on saving their clients up to 5 per cent more on money transfers compared with the banks.
The savings that can be made are truly impressive. So many people, especially pensioners, have a need to transfer regular amounts of money in and out of Spain from the UK and other European countries. The interest charged by the bank can be prohibitive, leaving the customer with considerably less to spend. Currencies Direct provides a currency transfer that consistently saves on interest. On large amounts the service can mean a difference of thousands of euros.
The personal touch is what this company specialises in and Currencies Direct staff enjoy an ongoing relationship with many of their customers who tend to drop by the office for a chat with Client Account Executives Sherry Fraser-Currie and Siw Hellebust, regardless of whether they need to transfer money or not, sharing news of how they are getting along in their newly-adopted country.
When asked where he would be in 10 years’ time, Paul said: “I hope to be living in Spain, watching my daughter grow up and providing the best possible financial advice to our valued customers. At Currencies Direct our mantra is ‘Our word is our bond’ and we ensure our clients always receive the best personal advice available.”
