TWO Local Police officers from Algorfa will be put forward for decoration after rescuing a man from 20 metres above a motorway, putting their own lives at risk to do so.The officers spotted a man on a ledge by an overhead roundabout and approached with caution while talking to him to try and convince him to step back from the edge.Yet the man tried to jump, leading the officers to both leap forward and grab him. After an ensuing struggle as he tried to free himself, one of the policemen ended up hanging by one arm from the fence, but was luckily able to pull himself, and the man, back to safety.Chief Inspector Pedro Javier Bartomeu Garcia said that the policemen both deserved recognition as they had exceeded the duties required of them in order to save the man.
