Apple Watch released for retail sale in Spain

AFTER much hype and anticipation, Apple’s eagerly awaited Watch is finally available for retail sale in Spain, but purchasing and programming it could be complicated. The Watches are only available on the Apple website or at Apple retail stores. Customers must make an appointment to come in and test out the new product.
Further complicating matters, they can’t purchase from the store without reserving the Watch online first.
The Watch, which works in conjunction with the iPhone 5 or higher, allows users to easily access phone apps and functions without having to pull it out of pockets or search for it bags.
Among classic functions like calendars, agendas and clock, users also have at their fingertips more advanced capabilities, such reading and responding to messages, navigating maps or requesting a taxi. American users can even make digital payments with it, thanks to its Apple Pay connection.
Perhaps the most interesting of its apps and functions, the Watch is marketed as a “ground-breaking health and fitness companion.” It has an accelerometer to track total body movement, photodiode sensors to monitor heart rate and GPS and WIFI via the iPhone to calculate distance covered.
The app takes in personal fitness goals and tendencies, converting the Watch into an excellent motivator for staying active, “tapping” users to remind them to get up and move around and congratulating them when they’ve reached a target goal.
The Watch, which retails for a minimum of €419, is designed to be more than just another tech gadget: it strives to be a high-end fashion accessory as well. Available in three versions – Watch, Sport and Edition – customers can choose between face size (38mm or 42mm,) finish (silver, space grey or gold,) and many different band options.
Prices vary by version, size and band, with the more elite Edition options decked out in rose or yellow gold and with a price tag of up to €15,000.
