Motorbike enthusiasts ride north for Asturias

MOTORCYCLE riders from all over Spain, Portugal and France will meet in Oviedo next week for the first annual bike riders meeting. The event, which is already expecting more than 400 attendees, will take place Thursday to Sunday (July 2-5.)
Riders will band together for the weekend – adding a bit of international flair to the AsturGuardianes bike club – to explore Asturias via various routes through the mountains and along the coasts.
One route will take bikers from Oviedo to Covadonga, taking in the majestic Picos de Europa along the way. Another route takes bikers to Villaviciosa and stops in the world-famous cider factory, la Sidra el Gaitero. Bikers interested in participating in the run are urged to sign up as soon as possible, say organisers, as space is limited and the run is already almost full.
In addition to the organised rides, the motorbike club has organised additional activities, which are free and open to the general public. As well as concerts and biker-themed parties, visitors can expect a daring performance by Ducati Stunt Team’s Emilio Zamora on Friday June 3 starting at 6pm.
For bikers who miss out on the organised runs, there will be a motorbike parade through the streets of Oviedo – open to any interested rider – on Saturday June 4 starting at 7.30 pm.
