FISHERMEN based at Marbella’s La Bajadilla port are complaining that they are losing income due to sand that has gathered at the entrance and has not been dredged since 2012.The sand banks, pushed into port by marine currents, are stopping larger boats from getting in and out, forcing some to dock elsewhere.Both Marbella Council and the Fishermen’s Guild have been asking the port management to have the work done for some time, and permission was given by the Junta de Andalucia regional government and the coastal authorities in March, yet the work has still not be done, Environmental councillor Miguel Diaz explained.
