MORE than 40,000 visitors are expected to watch dramatic displays by international air forces at Motril’s Air Festival scheduled to take place this weekend.Mayor of Motril, Flor Almon, launching the event explained that it would take place on Sunday (June 21) at the town’s Poniente beach. The Air Festival of Motril is expected to surpass last year’s audience, which reached 40,000 visitors, thanks to the participation of the Patrulla Aguila, from the Turkish air force. This air show is one of the three festivals of this nature that are to be held in Spain this year, together with one in Gijon and another in Mataro (Barcelona). This year’s event will involve the participation of the Cartoche Dore French Patrol, the Air Force of Turkey, the Tropicopter, Guardia Civil and Salvamento Maritiomo aircrafts amongst others.“This is the single event which gathers the most participants in our town, with some of them booking hotel rooms almost a year in advance,” said new mayor of the town, Flor Almon.Authorities and volunteers from Civil Protection will ensure the event goes ahead with complete safety.
