AN AGREEMENT between the PSIB socialist party and Proposta per les Illes (Pi) in Alcudia has favoured Pi leader Antoni Mir to become the new mayor of the town.The secretary of the PSIB in Alcudia, Pero Josep Malondra, will be appointed as deputy mayor while Tomas Adrover from independent party Gent per Alcudia will take the post of environment councillor.According to their statement released on Tuesday, both political forces have agreed to bring in a programme to reactivate the town and set it as an example for the rest of the municipalities in Mallorca.Mr Mir affirmed that citizens’ needs would be the main priority and that the programme was open to all residents’ suggestions.Amongst measures included in the programme are a reduction of the property tax, the inauguration of a day-care centre in Port de Alcudia and the creation of a tourism board to improve competitiveness and lengthen the high season period.
