Big supermarket chain confirms return to Axarquia

THE Velez-Malaga Council and the board of directors of supermarket chain Coviran have signed an agreement to bring the shop back to the town.
Mayor Francisco Delgado Bonilla announced the news and explained that the town council would trade a 5,000-square-metre land plot in the Parque Tecnoalimentario Costa del Sol Axarquia, where the chain’s headquarters will be placed.
In return, the owners will transfer to the council ownership of two residential land plots at the Camino de Remanente, where the company used to be located before leaving for Casabermeja in 2011.
“We are now fulfilling one of our electoral commitments in which we have put all our efforts,” said the Mayor. “I would like to congratulate Coviran on their return to the town, as they are one of the most important businesses in Andalucia.”
Mr Bonilla stressed that the council was hoping to boost the commercial activity of the Parque Tecnoalimentario, where other companies such as Avomix and Pronaxa are expected to place their headquarters.
