ITV’s popular series Benidorm commands more than six million weekly viewers in addition to another one million Facebook followers. The series bosses have visited the Emaus Association orphanage to learn more about the work that Emaus does, welcomed by Emaus Communications Director Monserrat Fiter.
Emaus professionals take care of children, women who have suffered abuse and also elderly pensioners in the Altea home founded in 1979, now one of nine Emaus homes in the country.
Writer Derren Litten, Producer Simon Bird and star Janine Duvitski, who plays Jaqueline in the series, hope they can help to bring awareness to the constant problems facing Emaus, pledging to do everything possible to help promote the charity’s new donation website www.euroamonth.com Visitors to the site can make a small monthly donation via PayPal that will go directly to the Emaus account.
And any company willing to make a regular monthly corporate donation to Emaus via www.euroamonth.com will have their company promoted alongside the new high profile website, also benefiting from a 25% tax deduction on the ‘declaration de la renta’ each year, having donated to a registered non-profit association.
The aim of www.euroamonth.com is to create an independent and regular income so the homes can cover costs without having to depend on expensive bank loans and unreliable sporadic government funding.
Montserrat told Euro Weekly News: “The idea is not only to make our existing homes more secure but also to enable us to expand to help even more people who find themselves in dangerous situations and desperately need help.”
Calling all you wealthy retirees living on the Costa Blanca – Emaus is not asking for thousands of euros – only for a tiny regular contribution to help good people to continue doing the magnificent job they have been doing for 35 years.
You can help Emaus now, today, by donating less than the price of a cup of coffee via www.euroamonth.com
On Friday 29 May at the UK Cabaret Club on Avenida Philippines in Benidorm there will be a chance to see the Benidorm series cast sing live and unrehearsed at a Karaoke Night! Presented by Derren Litten, this will be a fantastic evening of comedy and song and will also feature a raffle with incredible prizes linked to the show.
Entry is €10 and includes a free SOLANA wrist band! All the proceeds will go to Emaus so don’t miss this opportunity to support Emaus alongside stars Sherrie Hewson, Johnny Vegas, Janine Duvitski, Tim Healy, Jake Caruso, Tony Maudsley and others.
