OVERNIGHT stays in the Balearic Islands have increased by 8.3 per cent in April compared with the same month in 2014.The total number has amounted to 2.6 million, according to the data provided by the National Statistics Institute (INE).Specifically, out of the 2.6 million overnight stays, 2.1 million (15.8 per cent) were by foreigners and 466,096 (4.9 per cent) by Spaniards.The average length of a stay was 5.33 days in the Islands, which, of Spain’s autonomous communities, had the second highest level of hotel occupancy in April (64.8 per cent), only beaten by the Canary Islands (68.6 per cent).
