Yuri from Marbella makes footballing history at 17

MAGIC FEET, Yuri Ruh dos Santos, 17, the extremely talented left winger born of Marbella FC, has broken the record for being the youngest player from Marbella to make an international transfer.
The professional contract has been offered by UEFA and FIFA, European first division club, AS Trencín, an affiliate club of the Dutch side Ajax. The international transfer takes place at the end of May and Yuri plays his first international match for them in the Copa de Amsterdam next weekend.
“I just want to play football,” says Yuri with a big smile “and that’s the opportunity they are offering me, to make a living doing what I love more than anything.”
After trials with West Brom and Stokes City, in the UK during 2013, the teams commented, “He’s amazingly fast, agile, and the precision of his crosses is unprecedented.” However, at only 15 years of age he didn’t want to live alone in the UK and decided to stay in Spain.
But in 2014, the Ajax affiliate Club AS Trencín, invited Yuri for trials. They fell in love with him. “He’s a typical Spanish player, gliding on the field and making it look so easy with his Tiki Taka style,” said Dutch Coach Gideon Van Der Wee.
Following that, the Dutch side have now made him an offer he can´t refuse, one which could mark the start of a very promising career for Yuri.
The ‘Marbellís’ (Marbella FC,) are very proud of him and support him all the way. “Magic feet is our little star,” said a parent from La Campana, “we have watched him grow into a fantastic player and he brings hope to the young aspiring footballers of our community.”
