Young boy stabbed to death in Torrevieja

A YOUNG boy has been stabbed to death this morning in the Torrealmendros Urbanisation of Torrevieja.
The 10-year-old is reported to have been attacked by his mother’s boyfriend, who has lived with them for 18 months.
The youngster was rushed to Torrevieja Hospital in the early hours of the morning with stab wounds to his chest, but did not survive.
The mother’s boyfriend, aged 49, is understood to have then cut himself in the chest and stomach and is also in intensive care in hospital. Police are present and are waiting for him to regain consciousness before arresting him on suspicion of the death of the child.
The High Court of Valencia has confirmed that the man has a history of violence against four previous partners, but not his current girlfriend, whilst neighbours said he was “very troubled” and “very violent.”
Residents in the urbanisation are holding a minute’s silence this afternoon in condemnation of the crime as Mayor Eduardo Dolon expressed his grief and sorrow for what happened.
