English Rose fulfils her Harley dream

A CHANCE meeting with the press officer for the Benitachell Harley Davidson biker group saw 80-year-old Rose Oldham from Hyde in Greater Manchester fulfil one of her bucket list dream experiences.
With the help of her daughter Denise and son-in-law Keith, Rose’s surprise began when she was met at a local cafe bar on Thursday 23 April by Peter Emmett from the Costa Blanca Chapter. She was taken for a one-hour ride on his Harley Davidson Electraglide motorcycle.

Spain has a multicultural group of enthusiastic Harley riders from all over Europe. The group is always ready to support a good cause, their most recent local appearance in convoy at the April 12 Make a Smile Fun Run in Javea for the children of EMAUS.

Rose is no stranger to exciting experiences – her last bucket list achievement was a hair-raising parachute jump, earning her wings with the Red Devils to raise money for Help for Heroes, the charity formed to help those wounded in conflict. On arriving back from her exciting ride out, Rose was further surprised and delighted to find a large gathering of friends who treated her to a birthday lunch in Moraira to celebrate her forthcoming 81st birthday.

Rose said: “What an experience – and I did not want it to end. Peter also played Glenn Miller music for me throughout the ride which was magical!”
