Much-needed connecting road nears completion in Mijas

AN IMPORTANT new road in Las Lagunas, Mijas Costa, is almost ready, the council has announced.

Work to create a new road between the Avenida de Mijas and Avenida Miguel Hernandez began early this year, and is expected to end next month, providing a much-needed connection between the two areas.

The street, which will join the upper part of Las Lagunas and isolated local schools to the busy avenue, is expected to vastly improve traffic conditions in the area and reduce the dangers of the old Camino de Campanales many children had to walk by to get to school.

Pavements, roundabouts and lampposts can already be seen as the road takes form, and the council has stated that this is just the first phase of a road that will eventually reach the Camino de Coin.
