SEVERAL properties in the area of Plaza de la Constitucion in Velez-Malaga will be bought by the council to facilitate plans to uncover the town’s Arabic walls.
Councillor for Infrastructure, Urbanism and Operative Services, Concepcion Labao, explained that the council is now negotiating the purchase of three homes that hide parts of the walls. The government already owns two homes in the area.
“We are hoping for owners to move out of the homes by their own will and come to an agreement afterwards,” said Ms Labao. “Our main goal is for the wall to be visible from the Puerta Real de la Vilal to the General Plan Office, in front of the seniors’ home on calle Las Tiendas.”
She explained that the project was designed to showcase and preserve the town’s historic heritage.
