A MAJOR new solar energy plant is to be built in the municipality of Lorca, Murcia.
The plant, able to generate 330 megawatts, will be built in an area surrounding the town and has been given the go-ahead by the Spanish Ministry of the Environment.
The project is classified as a major strategic project by the local government and once constructed, by Spanish Solar developer Gestamp, will sell electricity to the national grid at market prices.
