Cynthia Lennon loses battle against cancer

CYNTHIA Lennon, the first wife of the late John Lennon, has died at her home in Mallorca, at the age of 75.

Her sole child with the former Beatle, Julian Lennon, gave the sad news on his website, explaining that his mother had died at home in his presence after a short but brave battle with cancer.

Julian continued saying: “The family is thankful for your prayers. Please respect our privacy at this difficult time.”

Cynthia met John Lennon when she was just 18 and the couple married in 1962 when she became pregnant.
