GUARDIA CIVIL officers have confiscated a total of 306 kilos of hashish in the port of Motril.
The drug haul was found inside a hidden compartment of a van driven by a 35-year-old Moroccan man who already had a criminal record and was travelling from Melilla, according to the information released by Guardia Civil.
Authorities found the drug during a routine search performed on vehicles disembarking form the Volcan de Tinamar ship.
Two trained dogs alerted the officers of the possible existence of drugs inside the ceiling of the vehicle.
They found hashish distributed in 259 packets and 13 tablets which weighed 206 kilos.
The drug was confiscated and the driver has been taken into custody and is awaiting trial.
