WAITING lists for inspections at the two ITV vehicle inspection centres in Malaga City (Guadalhorce and El Palo) should be reduced as a new centre has been opened.
Overwhelming demand for inspections over recent months, thought to possibly be down to the €200 fines drivers have been receiving for not having their vehicles’ ITVs up to date, meant waits of three weeks or more for appointments, especially at the Guadalhorce centre.
The situation should now improve slightly thanks to a new centre also in the Guadalhorce industrial estate, on Calle Carlo Goldoni.
The new centre, which has four inspection lines for light vehicles, two specific areas for motorbikes and two for checking taximeters, was created as an emergency measure following complaints from users over the waiting lists, and is expected to carry out approximately 110,000 inspections per year.
Named Guadalhorce-Los Prados, this centre is expected to remain open until a permanent centre being built in Mijas is ready to open in two years’ time.
