LIGHTING will undergo a comprehensive upgrade in Torrox thanks to the replacement of more than 400 street lamps in the town centre.
Mayor Francisco Muñoz explained that council experts had detected that the street lamps were not supplying enough light due to old age.
In total, 402 lamps will be placed around the streets of Torrox’s centre and it is expected that the upgrade will reduce electricity consumption by 25 KW per hour and save 70 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
The work will cost €19,698 and is expected to save the council a total of €15,672 per year.
