King’s Walkway boost for Malaga towns

ALORA and Ardales in Malaga are preparing for March 28, a date marked in red on calendars at local businesses thanks to the re-opening of the Caminito del Rey.

A great number of visits to the area are in the pipeline if the 32,000 people that have booked to walk the emblematic King’s Walkway trail are anything to go by, and prospective investors are already thinking up ways to cash in on the attraction while nearby catering and accommodation establishments rub their hands together in anticipation.

La Garganta Hotel owner Fernando Garcia explained that 20 bookings were made the day the Caminito’s booking website was launched and have had an average of four bookings per day ever since.

“That may be nothing for an establishment on the Costa del Sol, but it’s a lot for us,” Garcia said, explaining that he will have to double the hotel’s members of staff to cover the bookings between March 28 and April 5.
