THE Social Services of Santanyi Council have given jobs to eight local residents to carry out gardening and construction works.
These eight people were unemployed and receiving a monthly income below €400.
During six months they will participate in a project called ‘Reconditioning of green areas and streets of Santanyi.’
The council will contribute to their monthly earnings with an amount sufficient to achieve the minimum wage established by law, although they will still be considered as unemployed residents.
“Through this project, unemployed people will be able to maintain contact with the labour market and widen their experience,” said representatives of the Social Services Department.
