MAYOR Ana Mula (in pink) warmed up with the lively seniors before the walk began.
SENIOR citizens from 25 different areas of the province met in Fuengirola to take part in the Town of Fuengirola Senior Great Walk.
Just after 9am crowds began to gather by the Roman Monument on Los Boliches sea-front, and each participant was given a number to enable the organisers to keep track of everyone.
This urban walk, planned to offer the over 65s of the entire province a new way of keeping healthy, was looking to beat records and finally did so, thanks to collaboration from Malaga Provincial Council which invited senior citizens from other areas to come along.
Altogether more than 1,000 people, including monitors and Fuengirola Mayor Ana Mula, did the 3.3 kilometre walk to the riverside Parque Fluvial, where activities were held before lunch.
