Malaga campaign targets messy seed crunchers

A NEW campaign in Malaga City aims to teach ‘pipa’ (sunflower seed) munchers not to leave a mess behind them in public areas.

Malaga How I Love You campaign aims to raise awareness and encourage people to keep the city clean and tidy, and pipas shells play a big part in this as the traditional custom is to spit them onto the floor.

A total of 150,000 ‘pipeleras’ have been distributed to kiosks across the city and will be given out to anyone buying a packet of seeds to chew. Pipeleras consist of paper envelopes with two compartments: one to put the pack of seeds inside and another to hold the shells.
