A SEA TURTLE was rescued last Saturday (February 7) at the Colonia de Sant Pere in Arta.
Emergency services at 112 were alerted by a resident who found the animal half-buried in the sand, after being dragged there by the strong winds and waves registered during the previous days.
Local Police officers and a rescue team rushed to scene and took the turtle to a centre were it underwent blood tests and x-rays and was diagnosed with pneumonia.
The animal is currently stable, even though it is weak and malnourished. It will remain in the Palma Aquarium facilities until it is completely recuperated from the illness.
