STUDENTS of the Manuel Laza Palacio Primary School of Rincon de la Victoria took part in a reforestation programme at Parque Las Viñas.
More than 50 students from year four of the primary school planted 200 native trees, such as carob trees, pines, holm oaks and cork oaks, donated by Malaga’s Provincial Garden Centre.
“It is necessary to invest in the student’s environmental awareness, as well as teach them the importance of recycling and water saving,” said mayor of the town, Francisco Salado, who also attended the event.
Other local schools will also follow the programme, as the Provincial Garden Centre has donated 2,500 trees to be planted around the town.
