FOLLOWING filming of scenes for the fifth season of the highly popular Game of Thrones in the city last October, Sevilla has expressed its interest in repeating the experience.
Mayor Juan Ignacio Zoido sent a letter to the Fire & Blood production company, which produces the series for American channel HBO, stating that the city would be happy to see crews return for filming of season six.
Zoido’s letter spoke of how well the teams worked, the lack of incidents during the complex filming process and the great communication between council and producers.
Season five of Game of Thrones is due to be launched on Spanish television on April 13, and anticipation grows among fans as HBO shared a 35-second video with snippets of a 30-minute documentary on the filming of the series online.
Scenes of the Patio de Banderas and Giralda tower, the Plaza de España and a panoramic view of the cathedral and Giralda lit-up as night falls are included in the online video.
Tourism and Festival councillor, Gregorio Serrano, said that the council was very satisfied with the promotional images of Sevilla the video was offering to viewers worldwide, stating it should be a great way to encourage tourism.
