THE summer residence of the Spanish Royal couple in Cala Major costs €1.54 million in taxpayers’ money every year.
According to figures made public by the Balearic Regional Government by request of the Mes Per Mallorca political coalition, the cleaning and water consumption bill of the Marivent Palace in 2013 totalled a little over €350,000, while €84,000 was invested in maintaining the gardens.
Other costs included swimming pool maintenance (€45,000) and pest control (€8,000).
All the costs were borne by the Balearic Regional Government, said local media.
