A CHRISTMAS market was held once again in Altea’s Town Hall square with all the stalls that tradition demands.
The market served a double purpose, explained Culture councillor Marga Riera. It offered another leisure option for residents and visitors and also boosted local businesses in adjoining Avenida Jaume I, the town’s principal shopping street, offering an alternative to out-of-town shopping centres. There were free games and activities for the children, who also had the chance of leaving their Christmas lists with Father Christmas.
Spain’s holiday celebrations are far from over and the Local Police’s security campaign which launched on December 16 continues until January 6 and the arrival of the Three Kings. The Local Police force will be on hand for any emergencies that could arise, announced Public Safety councillor Jaime Selles while ensuring road safety for pedestrians and drivers and guaranteeing traffic flow inside the town.
“It’s important to create an atmosphere of trust over the Christmas holidays,” Selles said.
