INAUGURATION: second phase of Los Balcones park opens
THE SECOND and final phase of the Reina de la Sal park in Los Balcones has been officially inaugurated.
The work on the last phase was carried out by 22 student workers on an employment workshop. The park now has a completed area of 35,000 square metres with a large green sports zone, a jogging circuit, planted area and picnic zone. There is also monolith and plaque in memory of Carla Vaquera, the local woman who died with her son in the Santiago de Compostela train crash in the summer of 2013.
Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolon, was joined by the Director General of Labour, Cooperatives and Social Economy of the Valencian Regional Government, Rafael Miro, in inaugurating the second phase. Dolon congratulated the entire team for their “excellent craftsmanship” throughout the year.
Miro meanwhile announced that more employment workshops would commence in Torrevieja, including the construction of a large garden area in Urbanisation El Chaparral that would employ 40 people.
