LOS MOLINOS: Provincial government officials check out the lie of the land.
Benitachell Council and Alicante provincial government are giving Los Molinos urbanisation a facelift. The provincial government – the equivalent of a county council – is carrying out improvements to the urbanisation’s garden zones after Benitachell Council applied for official funding for the project and received a €23,150 grant.Reorganising Los Molinos green spaces includes weeding and clearing undergrowth from the area as well as thinning out trees. Once this has been completed the gardens will be planted with native trees and plants including fan palms, rosemary and thyme while pathways will be built and benches installed. It is also planned to substitute current irrigation methods with a self-compensating drip system. If all goes according to schedule, the work will be completed by the end of the year.Recycled water from the waste-water treatment plant will be piped to the Los Molinos for irrigating the green spaces and this will also be available to residents for use in their own gardens.
