Noche de Luz magic

HUERCAL OVERA shone brightly on Noche de Luz as the streets were filled with candles, magic and activities.
More than 80 shops and 24 eateries participated in the event which was organised by the town council.
More than 5,000 candles were lit and the streets filled with Disney characters and street entertainers in a night that brought family fun and shopping bargains galore.
Mayor of Huercal Overa, Domingo Fernandez, and councillor of Commerce, Monica Navarro, lit the first candles in Plaza de la Constitucion, giving the starting signal for the night’s events.
From the plaza, Mickey Mouse and his friends set off in a sled, followed by hordes of excited children.
There were Christmas carols sung by the Martin Alonso choir while Zumba was demonstrated by the H2O sports centre.
Fernandez said: “This event is precisely to encourage local trade. We know that the Christmas season is paramount to our more than 200 shops.”
