Ridley Scott questions why the 'best studio in the world' is closed

CLOSED: the Ciudad de la Luz would be full and generate income according to Ridley Scott

DIRECTOR Ridley Scott has criticised the closing of the Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante.

Ahead of the release of his new film Exodus: Gods and Kings, shot partly in Spain, he lamented the closure of the film studios in a recent interview saying: “Are they crazy? Do you have the best studio in the world and not use it? It makes no sense.” He argued against running costs being an issue in its closure saying if it was open it would be full with its good location, size and tax breaks for filming in Europe: “In London there are so many shoots happening, you cannot find a free set. I do not understand what is happening in Spain.”

Scott spent time in Alicante province filming scenes for The Counsellor, staring Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz, which was released in 2013.
