Geldof brings back Band Aid for Ebola

BOOMTOWN RATS star Bob Geldof is set to release another charity single to raise money for the fight against Ebola.

Last week, the singer’s publicist would neither confirm nor deny any involvement, according to Sky News, but kept us waiting in anticipation as he hinted that, “something would be announced.”

He announced earlier today that he has confirmed the return of the Band Aid collaboration and revealed which modern artists will be performing with him on the track.

His previous charity single Do They Know It’s Christmas? has been released three times over the years, with the original version topping the charts in 1984 for the Ethiopian famine relief campaign. Featured artists included Bono, Phil Collins and Paul McCartney.

The second collaboration was done with more modern artists such as the Sugababes, Busted and Ms Dynamite in the year 2003.

Band Aid 30 will include even more artists of this era with names such as Emile Sandé, Ed Sheeran, Bastille, Sam Smith and One Direction. Coldplay will again feature on the track, as they did in 2003.

There is also the possibility of Geldof arranging a fundraising concert, similar to the Live Aid concert in 1985, although it was not announced this morning.

The new logo for the band is blue and it incorporates the popular hashtag trend from twitter with the name #e30la.

The single will be released on November 17 costing 99p to download or £4 to buy on CD.

It is also expected that the single will be competing with the X Factor winner’s song for top spot over the Christmas period.
