NOT so long ago they were the number one football team in the world, but now Spain has slumped in the FIFA rankings and is barely propping up the top 10.
The October edition of the FIFA world rankings show that Spain has slipped two places and are now 10th in the world, just ahead of Italy.
Del Bosque’s new-look team were beaten by Slovakia at the beginning of October and recent good form by Portugal has propelled them into ninth place.
Still topping the world rankings are the two teams that met in this year’s World Cup final, Germany and Argentina, and Colombia remain in third spot.
England, like Spain, has also dropped two places and now sit 20th in the table.
