Recognition for Malaga actor

ANTONIO BANDERAS will be awarded the Goya of Honour in February 2015, Spanish Film Academy has announced.

The directive board of the Academy unanimously voted to award the Malaga actor, director and producer for his brilliant career on both sides of the Atlantic. Since his first appearances in Spanish Pedro Almodovar’s films in the 1980’s he has been involved in more than 90 productions in both Spain and Hollywood and also worked in Broadway production Nine.

Banderas – famous for roles in films including El Zorro, Two Much and Evita – has been nominated for the Goya four times and won the Academy’s Gold Medal in 2004. Other prizes and titles include the Premio Donostia, prize of honour at the Sitges terror and fantasy film festival and titles of Honoris Causa doctor of Dickinson College, Pennsylvania University and Malaga University.
