TV actors complete Middle Aged Road Trip

Middle Aged Road Trip

Dan Coll and Dan Carey completed their 10-day challenge on Wednesday, October 15, when the pair, clad in leather jackets, finally arrived at the Mackintosh Theatre in Gibraltar, just in time to perform in the variety show.

The two actors set out from Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire on October 4, in an old 1960s’ Land Rover with just £10 worth of petrol in the jeep. The idea of the trip was to get from Yorkshire to Gibraltar in 10 days, working along the way to raise enough money to eat, sleep and refill the tank with petrol to carry on the journey.

The idea for the TV pilot originated from Emmerdale actor Dan Coll, who through his own struggle with depression and the enormous help he got from The Samaritans, wanted to raise awareness about the illness and the incredible charity that helps so many people who feel they are in the depths of despair.

The trip saw the pair, along with their ‘techie’ Tony and cameraman Andy, plead for help from  a host of celebrities, deal with a puncture near Paris, sleep four or five in the car, juggle in Valencia, go busking with Cheryl Fergison and of course make money from girls wanting photos with Frankie Cocozza.

The Euro Weekly News will be catching up with the two actors when they return in November to find out all the ‘nitty gritty’ and some exclusive gossip from the trip before the programme is aired.
