THE Guardia Civil has seized two kilos of cocaine at Valencia’s Manises airport, hidden inside ink toner.
All in all, 11 packets of printer ink toner were found with cocaine concealed inside. A 51-year-old man from Barbados has been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
According to a police statement, the man had travelled to Spain onboard an international flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil, making a stopover in Lisbon. Suspicious Guardia Civil officers searched the man at customs and discovered the drugs in his luggage.
The 11 printer ink toners raised suspicions and when cut open, revealed white powder resembling the drug to be hidden inside, protected by a plastic covering.
Tests carried out in the airport confirmed that the white powder was indeed cocaine.
