THE town hall in Jaen have dismantled an illegal slum, known as Bulevar, on the north side of the city. The owners of the land put a complaint into the police to remove the inhabitants, but have been waiting since June for action to be taken against them.
In a press release, the city Security and Transport councillor Juan Carlos Ruix, relayed that the slum had been dismantled. “It is a delicate situation as there are young children involved, the squatters knew that they were occupying the land illegally.” Adding, “We have been working since June to try and resolve the situation, unfortunately, the delay was caused by the Junta de Andalucia (regional government), who did not want to know anything.”
The squatters are hoping to be temporarily housed by the town’s social services.
