The World Airline Awards has released the results of their top 10 airlines in the world survey. Sadly, not a single British carrier made the cut.
Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific defeated last year’s champion, Emirates, to win the award which was voted on by millions of travellers.
Only two European airlines made the top 10, Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa.
Here is the top 10,
1. Cathay Pacific
2. Qatar Airways
3. Singapore Airlines
4. Emirates
5. Turkish Airlines
6. ANA All Nippon Airways
7. Garuda Indonesia
8. Asiana Airlines
9. Etihad Airways
10. Lufthansa
On receiving the award, Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Ivan Chu said that he was ‘extremely proud, for both Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong to receive this honour’.
He said, ‘As the home airline of Hong Kong, we take great pride in putting the city on the international stage by winning this prestigious award once again.
‘The World’s Best Airline award is particularly important to us because it was decided by the votes of close to 19 million travellers from around the world.’
‘Thank you to everyone who voted for us!’
