Palma taxi drivers have been up in arms over illegal drivers.
A van which was illegally taking tourists to Palma Airport was stopped by Calvia Local Police. The town hall has said it is aware of the complaints amongst licensed taxi drivers regarding the problem with ‘pirate’ taxis.
The driver alerted police of the situation and the van was located on the exit from Costa d’en Blanes urbanisation to the MA-1.
It was driven by a German woman and passengers said she offered her services online.
Taxi drivers recently prevented buses and taxis from leaving from Son Sant Joan Airport for around two hours while they staged a protest against such illegal activities.
Local and National Police attended the scene to help buses leave the airport.
