The replica of Egypt's Abu Simbel will be in Marbella.

A replica of an Egyptian temple will remain at the Palacio de Congresos in Marbella from Friday May 23 until September 21.

After visiting Portugal, Sevilla and Jerez de la Frontera, the replica of Abu Simbel, built 3,300 years ago on the orders of Ramses II to commemorate the victory in the Battle of Kadesh against the Hittites, can be seen in Marbella.

The huge original temple is in the south of Egypt, and has been visited on numerous occasions by the creator of its smaller replica in fibres, Hany Mostafa.

In 1964 when the Aswan dam was built, it was moved from its original location with the help of UNESCO to a place 65 metres higher, 200 metres away.

The details are exactly the same, and he has spent five years with a team of eight people to build the temple, which has four areas and is 24 metres long, 12 metres wide and six metres high.

Completed in 2011, its creator has travelled Europe battling with red tape and language barriers and after Marbella, it will be moved to France.
