‘Solidarity Cycling’ planned in Las Lagunas

Mijas youth councillor Maria del Mar Rios has announced new cycling routes for the upcoming ‘Solidarity Cycling’ event designed for students and young people in Mijas.

The event is organised by the town’s youth office with the assistance of the Sierra Mijas TECO cycling training institute and the Discover Sur Guides Association.

Solidarity Cycling is an all-spring event that offers youths in Mijas the opportunity to participate for six days along up to 12 routes throughout Mijas during the months of March, April and May.

The event will be on Saturdays, namely March 29, April 5 and 12, and May 10, 17 and 24.

Each stage will leave from the Sierra Mijas secondary school in Las Lagunas and will last approximately four hours, from 10:00am to 2:30pm, covering between 18 and 35 kilometres.

Classes will also be offered each of the six days for medium-low and medium-high cycling levels.

Sign-ups are free, though participants should contribute personal hygiene items which will be donated to the local Red Cross.

Participants should sign up at the Youth Centre (Juventud) and Teatro de Las Lagunas, Monday to Friday from 9:00am-2:00pm and 5:00-8:00 pm.
