Mojacar town hall: Honouring two citizens

MOJACAR is to award its distinguished Indalo de Oro award to photographer Robert Kenneth Jones and cyclist Serge Baguet. The Golden Indalo is a good luck symbol of Mojacar and will be awarded at a simple ceremony at the Feria Internacional del Turismo (Fitur) in Madrid on January 23. Robert Kenneth Jones, known as Bob, is a Londoner who has lived in Mojacar for decades and has developed his hobby of photography throughout his professional life.
A mojaquero with a love for its people, Bob has tirelessly promoted the image of Mojacar with his incredible snapshots. His beautiful landscape pictures of Mojacar have been portrayed in television news, reports, books and on the screens of thousands of social network users.

Serge Baguet is a Belgian cyclist with great prestige in his home country. He has been a champion of Belgium, where cycling is almost a religion. He has also won a stage of the Tour de France, has won the Tour de Berne, as well as several stages of the Vuelta a Andalucia, and tour of Britain.

He is currently sporting director of continental team Doltcini Flanders Baguet and its youth team.
Many years ago he established in Mojacar a cycling centre where each year hundreds of professionals and amateurs come to prepare for the different cycling seasons. Enamoured with Mojacar, Serge has worked for the last two years in the consolidation of the cycling race “ The Classic Mojacar-Sierra Nevada”which sees more cyclists taking part year on year
