THE Provincial Government of Almería celebrated the day of the Province at the Castle of San Andres in Carboneras on Saturday. Carboneras was chosen to coincide with the celebrations of the bicentenary of the town.
As every year, the Government awarded its highest distinctions in order to highlight the historical, social and cultural references of Almeria.
This year the gold medal of the province was awarded to the patron saint of the capital the Virgen del Mar. Awards were also given to the association of parents of children with cancer, cycling brothers Jose and Juan Muñoz in sports and the painter Antonio Lopez in the cultural section.
