FOUR Guardia Civil officers from the Axarquia, are amongst 14 people accused of cooperation with a drug-trafficking ring.
According to news agency Europa Press, the Malaga public prosecutor considers the officers were part of a ring in charge of introducing large quantities of hashish into Spain from Morocco.
The prosecutor maintains, says Europa Press, that each of the accused had a specific role in the ring. The Guardia Civil officers were allegedly in charge of covering the backs of the traffickers.
As a consequence, three of them have been charged with an alleged crime against public health, and the remaining officer has been charged with drug trafficking and bribery.
The prosecutor has asked for prison sentences totaling more than 80 years for the accused.
